Bikers/Veterans/Punk Kids
John is doing well for all he's been thru. I figure he's done three tours of Vietnam, he won't give up now.
I am so grateful for all your prayers. Please keep them coming!
Our big obstacle now is getting him home. I have never been to Kalispell, MT but apparently the phrase 'middle of nowhere' keeps coming up. If any of you have any suggestions on finding a trailer, truck or anything, please let me know.
On other news, I am surrounded by punk kids. Lots of them.
This afternoon's activities include tie-dying t-shirts and yes, I have mine ready to go. Miss Thang is still exercising her rights in the Terrible Two's and aside from being a holy terror in Walmart and whacking me upside the head with a ketchupy corndog at lunch and stuffing her ice cream cone in the leg pocket of my cargo pants so she could go play, things are pretty normal.
This is the crew:
Somebody throw me a lifeline?

Will keep John in my prayers.
Have fun Katers!
Have a goodin!
Punk kids go well with punk adults
What is it with you and pants or overalls. They are always getting stuffed with something LOL.

My library has one of those!! Too fun!! :)
Sounds like you are keeping mighty busy!!! Their poor Mama is gonna miss you when you are gone!!!
You know, I think I got off easy with Krysten. Going through Terrible Threes is easier. They're old enough then to understand threats and consequences.
Hey :)
SO GLAD your friend is healing. Kalispell MT is a cool place, liked their beer ;) , I was there a few years ago after a backpacking trip in Glacier (we had exited the west side of the NP).
If you go to Google maps, and do something like this link
http://maps.google.com/maps?near=Kalispell,+MT&geocode=&q=truck+rental&f=l&sll=48.409149,-114.013367&sspn=0.771215,1.914368&ie=UTF8&ll=48.225702,-114.324074&spn=0.096749,0.239296&z=13&iwloc=A
then you should be able to help track down some truck rentals. Substitute something else in there to search for other options.
Or, you could also try to contact some motorcycle dealers/shops, they would likely be able to help him securely ship the bike back (was the bike damaged?)
Hey, I just looked at their weather. Highs in the 70's, lows in the 40's. :D Sounds pretty nice!
Weird.... I thought that Kalispell sounded familer.... Mmmm... I think that is where my mother in laws sister lives.....intresting.... I will keep praying that John heals quickly so that he can head home.
LOL... ketchup in the hair... ice cream in the pants... yep! sounds typical!! LOL... enjoy!!!
They look docile enough.....just goes to show you, you can't always trust a photo.
they look pretty harmless -the kids.
Sounds like you could use a lifeline...and a cage! JK
Glad to hear your friend seems to be doing well.
I have to tell you - the ice cream cone in the pants made me laugh out loud. I needed it after today... a lady had quads in our hospital earlier this week, and two of the babies died last night. That put a damper over the whole day!
I'm glad to hear your friend John is OK. I will continue to keep him in my prayers. It sounds like you're getting lots of practice in with your pint sized punks! You'll have one of your own in just months! Peace
Kate... why don't you tell some of his buddies that are there with him to contact one of the local motorcycle shops? I bet they have had to deal with things like this a jillion times before. Hopefully they will have a good suggestion for safely transporting the motorcycle back home for him!!!
Enjoy your little ones...they are adorable....even Miss Thang!!!

@Redlegsix - they have already done that plus we have contacted the local biker groups. They're just flat out in the middle of nowhere! However, I talked to one of the guys this afternoon and a plan has been formed. It's not a great one, but it's a plan. He'll be home by next week!
@christianchemist - I was standing on the porch talking to a neighbor and haley was standing beside me eating her cone. the neighbor's little boy came over to play and I absently chided her to 'eat your ice cream before you go play". the next thing I knew the little wag had stuffed it in my pocket so she could go play!
I am sorry to hear about the babies. that's always hard. My prayers are with the mother and family.@k8tthelate - How is he doing physically??? Will there be any permanent effect from this??? Are his motorcycle days a thing of the past??? (no wait..he is still breathing...he WILL be back on the bike...I am sure!!)
Ruth Ann
@Redlegsix - the lung is leaking where it was punctured, but he seems to be doing ok all things considered. and of course, he'll be back on a bike!
I have to come to Xanga every so often and catch up. I've giggled a lot while reading your site. I do hope John is not in too much pain. I know about the terrible twos. I got so tired of hearing "NO!" LOL!
Awwww ~ lol and they look soooo sweet!!
